Key Highlights of ZEUS FEED Contract:
- Project: ZEUS Demo Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) – Zero Emission Power Station
- Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Energy Asia 2025 signing)
- Partners: Aker Solutions, PETRONAS, MISC Berhad, Clean Energy Systems (CES)
- Technology: High-pressure oxyfuel thermal system with integrated CO₂ capture
- Purpose: To generate dispatchable, zero-emission power using high-CO₂ natural gas streams
- Applications: Onshore, offshore, and floating power solutions
- Next Milestone: Final Investment Decision (FID) for EPC phase in 2026
- Testing: To be carried out in Malaysia, replicating full-scale plant conditions
The ZEUS project will use high-pressure oxyfuel technology integrated with carbon capture to produce reliable, zero-emission power. This innovation aims to unlock previously stranded high-CO₂ natural gas reserves and transform them into sustainable energy sources.
Project Scope
The ZEUS Demo FEED is designed to:
- Replicate thermodynamic conditions of a commercial-scale plant
- Validate system feasibility through testing in Malaysia
- Minimise redesign requirements for future scale-up and deployment
- Lay the groundwork for the EPC phase in 2026
Leaders’ Comments
