Chiyoda Wins EPC Contract to Expand Hibiki LNG Base in Japan

Chiyoda Corporation has secured an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract from Saibu Gas Co., Ltd to enhance the capacity of the Hibiki LNG Base in Kitakyushu City, Japan.

The expansion will include the construction of an additional LNG tank, increasing the facility’s storage capacity from two tanks to three, with completion scheduled for the first half of fiscal year 2029.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on July 18, 2025, attended by government officials, local authorities, and other stakeholders. President Kato of Saibu Gas led a ceremonial prayer for safe construction.

Chiyoda President and CEO Mr. Ota expressed his commitment to delivering the project on time and pledged to achieve the core objective of an accident- and incident-free completion.
