John Wood Group PLC (Wood) has been awarded a $2.8 billion Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) contract by ADNOC to modernise and expand its Habshan gas processing facility, one of the world’s largest gas complexes.

The contract includes significant upgrades, debottlenecking solutions, brownfield modifications, and the installation of new units at both the Habshan and Habshan 5 sites. The goal is to boost operational efficiency and support ADNOC’s upstream expansion under its Rich Gas Development (RGD) programme.
Wood is expected to recognize approximately $400 million in revenue from its EPCM services. The company previously handled the front-end engineering design (FEED) for the project and will now oversee execution while keeping the facilities fully operational, ensuring uninterrupted gas supply.

Over 500 engineers and specialists from Wood’s Abu Dhabi team will lead the project, supported by global engineering hubs. The project is scheduled for completion by end of 2027.
This contract strengthens Wood’s presence in the Middle East and highlights its role in helping the UAE enhance energy security and meet future gas demands.
