Orders in India
In the domestic market, L&T has bagged orders aimed at revamping power distribution networks. The scope of work includes:
- Implementation of Distribution SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems in two towns.
- Integration of smart technologies for efficient monitoring and management.
- Upgradation of distribution transformer stations.
- Conversion of overhead lines into underground cabling to improve reliability and safety.
This move is expected to boost operational efficiency and provide smarter, more reliable power distribution to urban consumers.
UAE Project: STATCOM Systems for Power Stability
In the United Arab Emirates, L&T has secured a contract for the design, delivery, and construction of two ±300 MVAr STATCOM (Static Synchronous Compensator) systems. These systems will be installed at existing 400 kV substations.
- STATCOM will provide real-time voltage stabilization by injecting or absorbing reactive power.
- The technology ensures automated and instantaneous response to grid fluctuations.
- It helps maintain power quality and system reliability, a critical requirement for rapidly growing energy networks.
Oman Project: New Grid Station and Transmission Line
In Oman, L&T will execute the establishment of a 400/132 kV grid station along with an associated 400 kV transmission line segment. The project is designed to enhance the country’s transmission capacity and support industrial as well as residential demand.
Strategic Significance
With these wins, L&T strengthens its international footprint while continuing to contribute to India’s domestic power infrastructure upgrades. Industry experts believe that such projects are aligned with the global shift towards resilient and sustainable energy systems.
In a company statement, L&T highlighted that these orders “reinforce our commitment to building future-ready grid infrastructure that supports energy transition and sustainability goals of our valued customers.”
